Үндэсний номын сангийн шинэ барилга тавдугаар сард ашиглалтад орно. Харин хуучин барилга нь Баримтат өвийн судалгаа, мэдээллийн төв болж, монгол судлалын эрдэм шинжилгээний төв болох аж.

Үндэсний номын сан 1951 онд одоо байрлаж буй 4560 м² талбай бүхий байранд 500 мянган номтой үйл ажиллагаа эхэлж байсан бол эдүгээ 3.5 сая болж, ном, судрын тоо 7 дахин, барилгын талбай, багтаамж, сан хөмрөгийн даац, ачааллыг номын сангийн стандартад нийцүүлэн тооцоолж үзэхэд 4-9 дахин хэтэрсэн судалгаа гарсан байна.

Иймээс Монгол Улсын Засгийн газрын 2020-2024 оны үйл ажиллагааны хөтөлбөрт “Үндэсний номын сангийн барилга байгууламжийг барьж ашиглалтад оруулна” зорилтыг хэрэгжүүлж, орчин үеийн шаардлагад нийцсэн салбар номын санг ашиглалтад оруулж үйлчилгээг дэлхийн жишигт нийцүүлэхээр номын сангийн шинэ барилгыг ашиглалтад хүлээн авч байна.

Үндэсний номын сангийн хуучин байранд гар бичмэл, барын ном, судар, монгол судлал, архивын ном хэвлэлийн нэгдсэн сан хөмрөгийг бүрдүүлж, уламжлалт болон цахим үйлчилгээ үзүүлэх Баримтат өвийн судалгаа, мэдээллийн төв болгон үйл ажиллагааг нь өргөжүүлэх юм. Дэлхийн монгол судлалын эрдэм шинжилгээний төвийн гол түшиц болох соёлын баримтат өвийг хадгалж хамгаалах, сэргээн засварлах, үндэсний бичиг соёлын өвийг түгээн дэлгэрүүлэх, судлах, эрдэм шинжилгээ, судалгааны эргэлтэд оруулах үүргийг гүйцэтгэнэ.
