Хөвсгөл аймгийн малчид мал сүргийнхээ тоо толгойг нэмэгдүүлж таван жилийн дараа мал сүргийн тоогоор улсад дахин тэргүүллээ. Мал тооллогын урьдчилсан дүнгээр 5.709.892 тоо толгой мал тоолуулсан байна.

Аймагтаа мал сүргийнхээ тоогоор Цагаан-Уул сум 456.977 толгой мал тоолуулж тэргүүлсэн бол Бүрэнтогтох сум 420.683 толгой мал тоолуулж хоёрт, Арбулаг сум 379.068 толгой мал тоолуулж гуравт оржээ.

Мал сүргээ таван төрөл дээр нь 13 сум өсгөсөн бөгөөд Мөрөн, Цагааннуур сумын мал хамгийн их өссөн гэдгийг Хөвсгөл аймгийн Статисикийн хэлтсийн дарга Б.Базардамбуу, ахлах мэргэжилтэн Т.Алтанцэцэг нар мэдээлсэн байна. Тус аймаг 2012 он хүртэл мал сүргийн тоо толгойгоор улсад олон жил тэргүүлж байсан юм.
